Artificial Grass Repair in Allen, TX

We repair what we install and what others have installed. Seam separations, base settlement, edge failures, drainage problems.

What goes wrong with synthetic turf in North Texas and why

Turf repair is a significant part of our work in Allen and across Collin County. We field repair calls that fall into two categories: our own installations that need attention after years of service, and other contractors' work that has developed problems the original installer does not want to fix. We handle both. Our diagnostic approach is the same either way: find the root cause before doing any repair work, so the same problem does not come back.

The repair calls we get most often in Allen and the surrounding market fall into a few categories. Seam separations are the most common — a seam that was bonded with the wrong adhesive or without proper surface preparation will begin to open in one to two years under normal foot traffic and North Texas temperature cycling. Edge failures are second — edges that were not secured with sufficient nail density or that were cut too short begin to curl or pull back from the bender board.

Drainage failures are less common but more disruptive — they present as standing water under or on the turf surface, sometimes accompanied by odor from the trapped moisture. These usually indicate a base design issue rather than a turf material issue, and the repair involves lifting the turf, addressing the base, and re-laying.

Why addressing turf repair promptly saves money in Allen

We tell every repair client the same thing: problems that are caught at year two are half the cost of the same problems at year four.

Seam repairs done early stay invisible

A seam that is beginning to separate — the adhesive is weakening but the backing has not yet torn — can be repaired in under an hour by lifting the turf slightly, reapplying adhesive, and re-bonding. The seam is invisible when complete. Wait until the backing has actually torn and the repair requires a patch of new material that, while nearly invisible if done well, is technically more visible than a re-bond.

Edge curl caught early is a simple re-nail job

A curled edge where the turf has begun to lift at the bender board is corrected by re-nailing on closer centers and re-seating the edge against the board. If the edge curl has progressed to the point where the backing has creased, you may need a trim and re-installation of that edge section. The earlier you catch the curl, the simpler the fix.

Drainage retrofits preserve the turf product above

A turf installation sitting on a failing base — poor compaction, inadequate drainage — is heading toward either significant surface undulation or water retention problems. Catching this at year three, when the turf itself is still in good condition, allows us to lift the turf, correct the base, and re-lay the same product. At year seven, when the turf has also aged, the calculus shifts toward full replacement.

Patch repairs restore function without full re-installation cost

A 10-square-foot area of turf damaged by a burn, a heavy object, or unusual wear does not require replacing the entire installation. A patch using matched material, installed with proper seam technique, is functionally equivalent to the original for the remainder of the installation's service life.

How we approach a turf repair call in Allen

We do not quote repairs over the phone or by photos alone. An in-person assessment is required because what is visible on the surface often understates the scope of the underlying issue.

Step 1

On-site diagnosis

We inspect the reported problem and test the surrounding area — probing the base for soft spots, testing seam integrity beyond the visible failure point, checking drainage function. The full scope of the problem determines the repair approach.

Step 2

Root cause identification

Every repair has a cause. We identify it before we quote — because if we repair the symptom without addressing the cause, the same problem returns. A seam that opened because of water infiltrating the adhesive will open again if the drainage issue creating that water exposure is not addressed.

Step 3

Repair scope and quote

We quote repairs in specific terms: this is what we are fixing, this is how we are fixing it, this is the material cost and labor estimate. No vague "repair service" pricing.

Step 4

Repair execution

Depending on scope: seam re-bond, edge re-secure, patch installation, base correction and re-lay, or drainage retrofit. We use the same materials and techniques as a new installation — no shortcuts on repair work.

Step 5

Post-repair inspection and documentation

We walk the repair area with the homeowner, photograph the completed work, and provide a written description of what was done. This documentation is useful if a warranty question arises later.

Turf repair questions from Allen homeowners

I have a seam separating in my backyard. Is this covered under warranty?

It depends on who installed it and when. If we installed it within the last two years, yes — seam separation is covered under our workmanship warranty with no charge. If it was installed by another contractor or is outside our warranty period, we assess and quote the repair as a paid service. We tell you honestly what caused the separation so you understand what you are paying to fix.

Part of my turf is lower than the rest — there is a sunken area. What happened?

Base settlement. This happens most often in two situations: the base was not compacted sufficiently during installation (common with budget installs), or there is a subsurface issue — tree root decay, a buried organic layer — that caused the soil below the base to sink after installation. We assess which it is, then quote accordingly. Isolated base settlement is usually fixable by lifting the turf at that zone, re-compacting or adding base material, and re-laying.

Can you match my existing turf color and pile height for a patch?

We keep material samples on file for every installation we have done, and we work with multiple distributors who can match many other brands by pile height and color. Color match is never perfect — a new patch next to aged turf will have slightly different optical properties because the old turf has UV-weathered somewhat. We show you the match in person before we commit, so there are no surprises.

My dog dug through the turf at the corner. What is the repair?

Dig damage at corners is a patch repair plus a reinforced edge treatment to prevent recurrence. We cut out the damaged section, install a patch using matched material with proper seam bonding, and reinforce the corner with a wider bender board and closer nail spacing — or a concrete mowing strip if the dog is persistent. We have done this repair in Allen many times and the reinforced corner holds.
