What goes wrong with synthetic turf in North Texas and why
Turf repair is a significant part of our work in Allen and across Collin County. We field repair calls that fall into two categories: our own installations that need attention after years of service, and other contractors' work that has developed problems the original installer does not want to fix. We handle both. Our diagnostic approach is the same either way: find the root cause before doing any repair work, so the same problem does not come back.
The repair calls we get most often in Allen and the surrounding market fall into a few categories. Seam separations are the most common — a seam that was bonded with the wrong adhesive or without proper surface preparation will begin to open in one to two years under normal foot traffic and North Texas temperature cycling. Edge failures are second — edges that were not secured with sufficient nail density or that were cut too short begin to curl or pull back from the bender board.
Drainage failures are less common but more disruptive — they present as standing water under or on the turf surface, sometimes accompanied by odor from the trapped moisture. These usually indicate a base design issue rather than a turf material issue, and the repair involves lifting the turf, addressing the base, and re-laying.
